How do I eliminate cigarette cmoke odor from books?

I recently inherited my grandmother's cookbooks. She was a smoker for numerous years. Her cookbooks smell of cigarette smoke. Being that I am not a smoker and am allergic to the smoke I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to get rid of the smoke smell from the books? Thanks.

Don't put anything liquid on them - Try about a tablespoon of baby powder or cornstarch sprinkled loosely in the pages. Shake them out and sit them in the open air for about two hours...should take care of it.
Reply:Sprinkle baking soda between the pages and let set for a week or so. Then just turn upside down and shake out. if they're really bad you may have to do it again.
Reply:Febreeze and sit them in the sun.
Reply:Hmm....air them out...
