What books would you recommend for a first year university student?

I'm moving out for university in a couple months, and I was wondering if anyone had any good advice books that helped then and/or that they would recommend?

What books would you recommend for a first year university student?
Yeah, but the NEWEST edition of all the BOOKS your classes call for. Don't expect to have any time left over to read Cosmo!
Reply:Get a book on how to learn. But read it before you go to the university because when you go to college you dont have time to read for enjoyment.
Reply:Advice type books will not help you at all. Books on "how to study" won't help you, either.

The best thing to do is to talk to students who have been at the school. Your instructors will know who to send you to, especially if they have had the students in your class.

The best thing that you can do for yourself would be to establish an open communication path with your instructors. My wife and I recently went back to school after about 10 years of working, and we have found that communicating with our instructors is one of the best things we could have done. While most people piss and moan because they don't do well on tests, then pout about it for weeks, we go to our instructors to see why we missed questions.

Don't rely on books to tell you how to interact at college, or how to learn. You will develope your own study habits and interpersonal skills at college. It will take a couple of years to fully develop a routine that you are comfortable with because each course you take in your general education will affect the way you do both.

Good luck. If you need anymore advice, email me and I will do what I can for you.
