How can I get money for books with out taking out another loan?

I'm in college and the price of books are ridiculous. I have work study but I want get paid soon enough. I plan on getting a job on campus but I dont know how long it will take to get one. What should I do?

I know what you mean about text book prices - even the USED ones can be around $40. I have three suggestions: First, check with your school's library. Usually they have at least one or a few copies of the college's text books available for borrowing. If so, you can take them out or make copies of your reading assignments until you have the money to purchase the books on your own. The second suggestion is, if you already took out a student loan, you should be able to get an addendum added to it in order to purchase your books. This is something your financial aid office should have suggested you do in the first place. If they didn't they should correct it for you ASAP. Third: Go to your teachers at the end of the first class and explain that you signed up for the classes before you realized you would be unable to afford to purchase the books until later in the semester. Your teacher might have a sample copy available for you to borrow temporarily, he or she might be able to provide you with xeroxed copies of the reading assignments until you obtain the text on your own, or you may find that he or she says they don't really follow the book and you simply need to take good notes in class in order to succeed.

Reply:What you might do is, get some guyz you with, doin' the same course or taking similar classes and share the cost by buying a book for a particular class, for example, u may buy a macroeconomics book, and the other guy buys the business law book, then you'll be sharing them.In one word, symbiosis.


Another thing is, get an off campus job, on campus jobs are good yeah but they dont pay as much, and if you are really into it, work longer hours. Good luck
