Marian Keyes (author)- she's a bit adult but good- My favorite's Last Chance Saloon
My Sister's Keeper (book) -makes you think, VERY good book group kind of thing
Lovely Bones (book)- I haven't read it myself but everyone I've spoken to has said it's amazing. i can't wait to get my hands on it.
The Danvince Code (book)- Another one that makes you think. it's a good mystery
Agatha Christie (author)- her books are short and more of a light read, but she's a genius
Reply:In ninth grade I liked
-Lord of the rings, an all time classic.
-The Chosen. It's a novel by Chaim Potok. Not a thrilling fantasy, but one of the best books I've ever read.
-Jane Eyre. Perhaps the best book of all time.
-Pride and Predjudice I read recently. I loved it.
-The Adventures Of Tom Saywer. I read that back as a little kid a few times.
-The Little White Horse is kind of a kids book, but it was very well written and fun. J.K Rowlings favorite book as a child, I might add.
Just to name a few!
Good Luck reading.

Try
The Neverending Story by Michael Ende
The Stolen Child by Keith Donohue
Tick Tock by Dean Koontz
Fear Nothing by Dean Koontz (first part of the Christopher Snow saga)
Seize the Night by Dean Koontz (second part of the Christopher Snow saga)
World War Z by Max Brooks
My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George
On the Far Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George
Frightfuls Mountain by Jean Craighead George
The Spiderwick Chronicles by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi
good luck, they're all great reads. My personal favorite being The Neverending Story. Not many people know how much different and more mature the book is compared to the movie, but it is VASTLY superior. I'm glad to see people are using Harry Potter as a springboard to get kids into reading.
Reply:If you like the magical type books like Harry Potter, try Terry Pratchett discworld novels, or Robert Asprin Myth- series both are good. There are also classics like Anne of Green Gables (LM Montgomery), Nancy Drew (Carol Keene), Hardy Boys (Frank Dixon), Christopher Paolini's Eragon series, Inkspell, Lemony Snickett, Issac Amiov, Mercedes Lackey are also good authours and series.
Reply:Sonya Sones books

(I'm an 11th grader and I love those books by Stephenie Meyer)
You might also try reading Slake's Limbo or The Giver those are pretty good too. They're very coming of age stories.
