Books that will entertain a 17 year old?

I am looking for some books to read, but I’m not sure which ones I should buy. I am not the romantic book type, but I have read and loved books that were about vampires, demons, werewolves and other horror science fiction books that had a bit of romance. And I am also into reading books that have to do with World War II and books that have to do with magick and other really awesome stuff.

Catch-22 is awesome. I like sci-fi books too (ha i always feel lame telling anyone that) and especially books with a futuristic touch. I would suggest Slaughterhouse five and Brave New World. Metamorphosis is pretty good - you can get it by itself or in a short story collection by Franz Kafka. Fahreinheit 451 is also excellent.


If you want to read an AMAZING story online (it's not too long - about 20 pages), search for "The Machine Stops" by E.M. Forster - it's amazing, especially when you consider it was actually written in 1909.
Reply:Definitely try Sergei Lukyanenko's "Night Watch" "Day Watch" and "Twilight Watch" (it's a three part series). Also, try Neil Gaiman's "Good Omens" and "Anansi Boys". I'm 21 by the way, but I'm sure it's the same for a 17 year old

i'm reading it right now. since you said you liked vampires i thought you'd like it... and it also has some romance. its also the beginning of a series, so if you enjoy it, you can continue to read them :)
Reply:Try Mary Stewart's Crystal Cave. It's the first of a fantastic series about King Arthur and Merlin. Many of my friends have read the series and absolutely love it. The stories are suitable for both boys and girls.
