Reply:Well, if the recipient likes mystery stories, Agatha Christie's autobiography is worth considering. For history buffs, I would recommend 'The Island at the Center of the World', by Russell Shorto. It's about the Dutch colony of New Netherlands, before the British took it over and re-named it New York. I received it as a Christmas gift myself a few years ago, and have been recommending it ever since.
Reply:Try anything by Fr. Andrew Greeley or Fulton Sheen.
