My bestfriends husband is in a prison and he wants some books and magazines sent to him but we have no idea how to do it and we cant find information about it anywhere!!!! please help!!! can we just go to a store and buy them there and send them through the post office?
What are the rules for sending books and magazines to a california state prison?
The Bureau of Prisons can accommodate you. Or the religious folks and some social workers!!!
Reply:If the guy is in prison, tell him to ask his counselor for advice. Chances are you can send whatever you want, but 1) it must be properly addressed, with his ID number and the whole nine yards, and 2) all incoming mail will be opened and inspected by prison staff.... Somebody will probably steal books and mags....
Have you tried actually calling the prison?? If not, or you can't get through, look online for a state of local prisoners' rights organization.....
Finally, most, if not all prisons, have libraries....
Reply:Don't know the rules. I'd recommend that you walk up to the fence and throw the material over. If that doesn't work then rent a helicopter, hover over the pen and pitch the materials out.
